If you are a member of The Playstation Underground, well you may have noticed that your PSU Account is now linked to your PSN Account so when you log in for some PS3 gaming, online friends not only from your PSN Buddy List will know you are online but those from the PSU Message Boards will as well. That is very cool because it just took the idea of a capped Buddy List and threw it out the window.
Now some, okay a lot will argue that it is not a true Buddy List because you can’t message, IM, VoIP, Ogle, trade files through, teleport, withdraw money from and fill that void left by being antisocial but it is an unexpected surprise for me to log into my account and see the ability to link.
In terms of connecting and knowing when someone is online, Sony’s PSN has reached out even farther. I love that I can see who is online from my computer now without having to sign in and see that no one is online. Talk about saving some energy, literally and figuratively. LOL I know how soft some of you are so don’t mind me if I point out my initial response (that I am reminded of) to a suggestion from the PSU for Sony to include in a future firmware update. The suggestion was for an eject option on the Sixaxis PS Button Menu.
My first response was “sheesh how lazy how are you?” but I have come to find out that it is actually a great feature. Not just that Sony is taking suggestions and implementing them but having the eject option on the PS Menu does actually streamline the process of shutting down the game and ensures you do not leave a disk in the carriage. That is something that you should always look for not only because it is a good segue but it would suck [deleted] if you accidentally put another disk in on top of another. No gaming or movies, not good. You would probably still be able to play your downloadable games but your multiplayer would be rather limited. That would not be good when there is so much more in store as far as games and movies and other features of the PSN and the PS3 that are worth waiting for.
I guess I could look at the further streamlining of the Playstation Network and see that it holds good potential for what Sony’s HOME will bring to the online interface experience.
Of course, this ability may not be up to par with the offerings of XBL as it stands but given time I like what is now possible and will be possible.
Such as being able to help out by answering this question that you may have:
Question: How Do I link My PSN and my PSU Account?
Answer: Well just sign in to your PSU account and look for a “Link your IDs today!” button up at the top right beside your sign in name.
I would suggest going from there first simply because some of you don’t have a PS3 yet and by expension no PSN Account. I am not sure about those who were able to reserve their PSN Handle which is actually another good feature and example for being on a good network but that is just my humble and rather extensive opinion. =)
If you wamt a more informed article to read about linking, well why not stop over at a friend’s WordPress blog. Havok has done a great job on the PSN LInking.

Groovy post, Dragon!
I think that it’s worth mentioning that people should think carefully when they go to link their PSN and PSU IDs. What I mean is that if they have more than one PSN account, they need to consider how they want to link. There have already been complaints from people who got excited and linked the “wrong” PSN ID to their PSU ID. Once they discovered that the process is (at least for now) permanent, they were a little upset.
I think anyone who doesn’t have identical or similar PSN/PSU IDs (for example, both of mine are RainMagick so, for me, there was no change) should read the FAQ before doing anything.
Anyway, I think that this is a great move for the PSN.
This is just the first step toward a fully integrated Playstation Network. You’re absolutely right when you said that while the PSN isn’t quite yet up to par with XBL, it’s only a matter of time.

I love this:
“There have already been complaints from people who got excited and linked the “wrong” PSN ID to their PSU ID. Once they discovered that the process is (at least for now) permanent, they were a little upset.”
People are stupid. LOL
Still it does bring up an issue I will no doubt write a blog about one day. You will have to keep reading my blog to find out what I am talking about here but rest assured, your comments have sparked my desire to write. =) Thank you very much for that gift rain. =)

You can (after deleting this comment, LOL) make that an active link. Put in the actual HTML in the editor … but click the “HTML” tab, first.
I would put it in here, but if you have the Askimet SPAM catcher on, it will stop it because of the link.
