Rainbow Six Vegas 2 map pack

Calypso Casino is back.  I don’t know how to feel about that but it is.  Along with that ‘new’ map, there are also night version of two R6Vegas2 maps which are called, Murdertown – Dark and CQB Training – Dark.

These three maps are a part of the new and I am going to use the title that I see on the Playstation Store so bear with me, part of the new “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six (registered trademark) Vegas 2 Gift Pack DLC – 3 Maps (Add-on content)”.  Okay so I over did it but if you are on the PS Store, you have seen this already and no doubt downloaded it since it (like the Cagney Update for Burnout Paradise) is a free download.

Okay for my first comment, you might be wondering why I don’t know how to feel about it.  On one hand it is cool andnice to see a familiar map.  SOCOM has done this before.  On the other hand, I saw so much of Calypso Casino in the first game that I am tired of it.  I did check it out for a round last night and did quite well on it.  =)

I wish I wasn’t heading in to town for the rest of the day so that I could play this game but I am bringing the family in for dinner and grocery shopping.  With all this downloadable content, I have been spending more time waiting for the download to finish than I am playing but what are you going to do right?

We are in the age of downloadable content and that depending on where you are will take time.  for me, a bit too much time but technology will eventually fix that.  I will say Fiber optics right now and leave it at that.

Enjoy your gaming and if you see me on R6V2, say something like “NIAC is a bully” and I will know you were here.  =)

Good game.

  1. So I had some time last night to get in a few offline games on the new maps. In particular, I wanted to finish these three new maps on Realistic, Lone Wolf as a personal achievement of mine.

I like the new maps, even Calypso. It was always dark for that map so it fits nicely with this map pack. I nearly managed to get through that map on Realistic last night, had four terrorists left and got caught on a reload.

I guess if anything, these three maps will force you to make use of your thermal goggles or your night vision goggles.

I don’t know if anyone has had issues with these based on the televisons they are using. I really haven’t gotten a chance to check these maps out on my LCD HDTV. It is a 42 inch LG and I just love that TV. =)

I am just wondering if these views (thermal and night) don’t affect your tv’s with that formerly dreaded Burn In that plagued early TV’s.

The maps are darker and they do lend themselves to the feel of a stealthy BLAM get your head blown off at any moment experience. =)

I managed to finish a couple of them on Normal but will continue to work on the A.C.E.S since these have become my current goal. I am around a hundred more XP’s for all three.

Overall, given that this map pack if of no cost, I am very happy with the ability to play them online.

I didn’t try splitscreen Terrorist Hunts so I guess that is the next order of things for me to do.

It seems I get hits for searches on the new map packs so I thought I would add something and maybe even garner a discussion.

  2. Hello!,

  3. Hello. =)

  4. Hi!,

  5. So I have had a chance to play this game on the Xbox 360 and I was surprised that the XBL Achievements are just the Awards you would get on the PSN.

Other than adjusting to the control schemes of both consoles, the game is pretty much the same on both the 360 and the PS3.

XBL didn’t really add too much to this game from what I could see. I do enjoy the game still though on both consoles.
